UserpicA Rilke Question
01.04.09

I've been thinking about memory quite a bit lately - thoughts which I will no doubt inflict on the good readers of this blog shortly. Before, I do so, I wonder if anyone can help me out with my own failing memory. I seem to remember Rilke saying somewhere something like memories having to become part of one's blood. I also seem to remember that he was talking about poets at the time, the idea being that for a poet it is necessary that memories become part of one's blood. Does anyone know (i) if Rilke ever said anything remorely like this, (ii) if so, where, or (iii) whether I dreamt the whiole thing up. Any help greatly appreciated.
