I'm reading Marc Bekoff and Jessica Pierce's excellent new book, Wild Justice (University of Chicago Press). it's a fantastic book - arguing that many animals - not just human ones - exhibit a broad repertoire of moral behaviours and emotions, including empathy, reciprocity, trust and even justice (understood as a form of fairness). I hate to judge a book before I've finished reading it. But I suspect there is still a lot of philosophical work to do convincing my misguided colleagues - which, of course, suits me just fine. More to follow.
