I've just heard the very sad news that Alan Saunders, the Australian (though born English, I believe) broadcaster, has died:
Alan interviewed me in front of several hundred people on stage at the Sydney Writer's Festival back in 2009. The supposed topic was The Philosopher and the Wolf, but Alan just wanted to talk philosophy - entirely typical of him, I've subsequently heard. I sensed the crowd wanted more wolf and less philosopher, but, anyway, I enjoyed it.
Alan was a great friend of philosophy, and a thoroughly nice person.
